- What to expect in therapy?
- You set the agenda for each session and I will guide you through whatever material you want to work with using the diverse array of tools I am trained in.
- You are the driver, I am the passenger and co-navigator.
- Sometimes we focus on the past. Sometimes we focus on current issues. We tend to whatever needs tending.
- I will support you in dreaming up a new you, then figuring out what needs to happen to get you there!
- Session length and frequency
- Sessions can be 60, 75 or 90 minutes, allowing you to really sink in and explore yourself in a private, confidential and calm space.
- Like exercise, therapy works best with momentum, but overall it is "as-needed." Perhaps you need a tune-up session, whereas other times you need weekly, bi-weekly or monthly sessions. You are welcome for however long to get the support you need.
- Why don't you accept insurance?
- Primarily for confidentiality reasons. Once insurance is involved, a client's confidentiality privilege is compromised, allowing many people in the insurance company to see your diagnosis, treatment plan, progress and so on.
- In addition, insurance companies usually limit the number of sessions you can attend according to a diagnosis, which may not even match what's actually going on with you.
